» CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character NAME: Lacie Baskerville
Canon & MEDIUM: Pandora Hearts | Manga
Canon PULL-POINT: Post death, pre being fully absorbed by the core.
Character AGE: 25
Character ABILITIES: Due to her being a Child of Misfortune, Lacie has the ability to communicate with the Core of the Abyss, something reserved only for Glens. She also possesses a chain. The name of the chain is unknown, but it appears to be a rabbit like chain that wields chains as a weapon. She's also fairly resilient. For a young girl to prance around in the snow in what looks to be a night gown and no shoes, well that takes some intense endurance.
Character HISTORY: Lacie, Pandora Hearts
Character PERSONALITY:

“Thanks to these eyes... I came to understand how cruel and despicable people can be...”

A child of misfortune possessing eyes of red. A fickle girl who dotes on various toys to pass the time, seemingly not caring for anyone or anything. A lonely, strong woman who loves the world which damned her. This is all who and what Lacie is. Like an onion, multiple layers make up Lacie and the more you peel away at them, the more they bring a tear to your eye.

“But that also allowed me to appreciate true beauty.”

The first layer of this charming onion would be the least impressive one. On the outside, Lacie is about as nice as an Iron Maiden. Although her behavior can hardly be called evil, it's not behavior capable of being called good either. As mentioned by Levi (at the time Glen), Lacie is a fickle girl. Her whims can change at a moment's notice and what interests her one day may bore her the next. She escapes from the manor constantly and finds someone to play with for the day. A toy. Nothing more. Love or friendship aren't something she activity sought. Even with Jack, the denial about their friendship lasted right up until the end. It takes months for Lacie to admit to herself that it would be lonely without him. The friendship with Jack took a long time to even get off the ground. During the musical performance at which they had gotten reunited, Lacie didn't even recall who he was. This boy had been a way to pass the time. Remembering something so unimportant felt unnecessary. Others were merely toys to serve the purpose of passing the time.

Viewing people in this light can be seen as cruel. People are all there for her amusement. What happens to them, carrying on a friendship with them or anything of the like did not matter. She had thought she needed no one. Who would want to be there with her to begin with? Not only is the girl a Child of Misfortune, but her sanity seems lacking. Dancing around in a rain of blood? Talking to 'lights? Smiling at the prospect of death? Clearly not something a normal person would do. Additionally, boundaries are something she seems keen on breaking or perhaps they simply do not matter to her. If she wants to hug someone? She will. Kissing? Why not. If she wants to do something, she will regardless of the other person's feelings on her actions. She will push herself onto a person whether or not they like it. One might call her stubborn in this regard. One final lackluster quality is her bluntness. When Jack introduces himself to her, Lacie's response is to laugh and say “Really? What a dull name!”. Speaking her mind is something she does quite well.

“All you have to do is look at things from a different perspective.”

Below this unappealing layer is one which paints her in a more positive light. Being very observant is among these qualities. Even smaller details tend to not escape her notice, spotting the Vessalius Crest on Jack's wrist rather easily. The same observational abilities apply to people. Levi believes that Oswald hates Jack; Lacie corrects him instantly by saying it's fascination. The girl is also an intelligent one. She manages to escape from the mansion on several occasions. She manages to steal some food for jack and herself. She realizes she's going to die, accepts it and still continues to love the world and live life as best as she can.

Living life in such a way involves being a bit of a risk-taker. Sneaking out into a clearly impoverished neighborhood is a risk. Doing so in the middle of a snow flurry while not even wearing shoes is an even bigger risk. Being impregnated by Levi to test this little experiment of his regarding her child being free of sin is a huge risk. It's all part of the fun. Having fun is a huge part to her. Lacie is full well aware of her fate. She knows she will die, which is why she wants to enjoy life as much as she can until that day comes. Behaving like this paints her in a more kiddish light, which is accurate. Lacie gets flustered, gets annoyed, pouts and other actions normal people display.

“Once I realized that the things we usually take for granted are really miracles...”

We finally arrive to the last layer, the most depressing layer. Underneath everything, Lacie is a normal girl who simply received the shortest end of the stick imaginable. She's know from a young age she would die. No, she's known she would cease to exist. Thanks to being aware of this imminent nonexistence, Lacie didn't care for anything. No one else seemed to care any for her, either. When she gets found after escaping the mansion, not one of the people asked if she was alright. Then when one mentions that Oswald said he was sorry, Lacie's face lights up. Someone cared for her and the feeling of being cared for made her so happy. The same can be said of Jack. The closer she grew to him, the more she began to enjoy it and the more she came to realize how lonely she had been. No one cared for her. She was a Child of Misfortune, something more worthy of being in a freak-show than being around other people.

The only friend (Jack excluded) Lacie had was the core of the abyss itself. Being a Child of Misfortune, she realized how lonely the core had been so she talked with it, even brought it a toy rabbit. The core had one, she had the other. She had given the core a friend. This demonstrates her kindness. It's hard to see beneath everything else, but Lacie is very kindhearted. No matter whether it's the Core of the Abyss itself or a lonely streetboy needing a haircut, helping them isn't out of the question. Maybe she would have claimed the latter was all to pass the time, but one cannot deny the kindness of such an action. Lacie is also a very cheerful girl. Laughter can be heard coming from the girl constantly. She loves this world. She knows how cruel it is, how unforgiving it is, but also how wonderful it is and loves it. Being a loving person is also a huge part of her. Oswald holds nothing but her utmost love. When he offers her the chance to escape with Jack, she denies likely to make sure Oswald isn't blamed and punished for her escape. She loves him and wants him to be happy. An even greater love is the one she holds for the world. If one were born to die, it's assumed they would hold a hatred for the world. Not Lacie. She loves it, truly loves it. As a Child of Misfortune, she's seen the world in every light: seen its cruelty, seen its wonder. It's incredible how much strength it takes to think this way. Lacie is so strong it's unimaginable, even though she doesn't see herself as such. She's simply more cynical than most people, that's all.

“...I came to see everything in its precious, ephemeral beauty.”

This little onion is one which will truly make you cry, but you'll love it just as it'll love you. Maybe Lacie has her faults, but she also has her strengths.

“I love... this world.”

» EXSILIUM INFORMATION
Chosen WEAPON: Most people would pick a practical Weapon or something useful, but not Lacie. Her choice in a weapon would be something quirky and fun, in this case a pair of bunny ears. The earrings look like this. Not only are they cute, but they also hold an interesting power. They enable the wearer to see people heart's. Whether a person is good or evil, true or dishonest, greedy or selfless or whatever else, these earrings can let Lacie know.

At first, they would only enable her to get a vague feeling from the person, one that amounts to feeling comfortable and happy with a more good person and uncomfortable and on edge with a more bad person. The more these earrings are worn, the more details of a person's heart can viewed up until the point Lacie can clearly see who a person truly is, what they desire, and other such details.

These extreme details, however, can only be viewed under one of three circumstances: Lacie knows the person decently well, Lacie has physical contact with the person or Lacie focuses all her thoughts on the person. Unless one of these are met, only the more basic powers will activate. None of the earrings' abilities active unless in person, either. Having on only one earring decreases the power by half. Naturally, a player's permission will be gotten before Lacie does any of the above.
Character INVENTORY: Nothing aside from the clothes on her back.

First PERSON: Bakerstreet meme

Third PERSON: The drops beating down on the ground were melodic. The rain itself feels miraculous. It is a miracle. A glorious miracle.

Laughter escapes Lacie as she twirls around in the rain falling down in the city. She had thought that she would never see rain, feel rain, again. Now, here she is, soaked to the bone and completely ecstatic about it.

A war this may be, but this war, in a way, is her savior. This city, this war, has given her a chance she'd never expected. It allowed her to escaped her own destiny. A child of misfortune is dragged down to the depths of the abyss and absorbed, exempt forever from even the cycle of rebirth. Those chains had dragged her there. Oswald had damned her (not that she ever blamed him for it, oh no. her brother did what he had to as Glen and she's proud of him for doing it) and she had been serving her sentence.

Now, somehow, she's here. It's a miracle. A chance unlike no other. A chance she had never expected. The radiant smile on her face widened and she reached up into the air to catch some of the drops in her hands. So few people realize how even rain is miraculous, how amazing these cool, little droplets are, how much you miss them when you can no longer touch them. Truly a miracle.

Just like another miracle she herself produced, though not certain when (giving birth in the abyss means one isn't when it even happened, after all). She slows in her twirls until they finally cease. Lacie brings down two hands to her belly and smiles. Her child, whoever they were, would hopefully get to enjoy this rain far longer than she had. Maybe she would never meet them, but maybe somehow a mother wishing for the happiness of her child would reach the child, transcending even death and nonexistence itself.

Somehow, some way, those thoughts would reach this child. Hopefully they will grow to love this world as she had. The number of atrocities in the world were great; the number of little miracles even greater. Even in this war-torn world, miracles happen. Lacie lowers her hands and lifts her face upwards so the rain could hit it. Yes, so many wonderful miracles.
